Near the seaside village of Apollon, on the north side of Naxos, you will find one of the two ancient quarries of marble. Many half-finished statues and marble blocks were transported to the ancient harbor and were shipped to Delos and many other places. In the ancient quarry you can still see the half-finished colossal statue of Apollo, as well as remnants from other statues that were in progress.
You can reach the quarry on foot if you follow the path from the village of Apollo. The open-air space can be visited throughout the year. Admission is free.
