Archaeological Museum of Naxos

The Archaeological Museum of Naxos is located in Chora. It is housed in a Venetian building of the 17th century. Here you will see items and artwork which were found in the excavations that took place after the Second World War. The findings are from the Neolithic to Early Christian times (5300 BC - 5th century AD). Furthermore, there are samples of pottery from the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic times. In the museum you will also see a collection of ceramic and glass vessels from the Roman era. The mosaic floor located on the rooftop of the building depicts a female figure riding a sea monster.
